The Judicial Nomination Commission (the “Commission”) is pleased to publish the first annual update of the report of Commission recommendations made to the President of the United States, Presidential appointments to the District of Columbia courts, and the Commission’s designations of the Chief Judges for those courts. On October 31, 2011, the Commission published an historic report of Commission recommendations made to the President of the United States, Presidential appointments to the District of Columbia courts, and the Commission’s designations of the Chief Judges for those courts with the commitment to update the report annually. The report relied on available records, including Congressional and Commission records, as well as notices published in the Daily Washington Law Reporter.

Commission Chair, United States District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, recognizes the importance of maintaining accurate records of Commission recommendations and Presidential appointments and periodically publishing those records in an easy to read format. The record spans forty years and encompasses the various branches of both the federal and District of Columbia governments.

Questions concerning the Commission’s report should be directed to the Executive Director at (202) 879-0478 or [email protected].
