Notice of Judicial Vacancy Created by the Retirement of the Honorable Brian Holeman

Members of the bench, bar, and public are hereby notified by the District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission (the “Commission”) that a vacancy on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia will occur as a result of the anticipated retirement of the Honorable Brian Holeman, effective October 26, 2018. The Commission invites qualified individuals to apply for this vacancy by 12 pm on August 30, 2018. See D.C. Code §§ 1-204.31, 1-204.33. Application materials, including instructions, are available on the Commission’s website: www.jnc.dc.gov.

Individuals who submitted an application for the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Mott need only email a PDF letter of interest and a current resume to the Commission’s Executive Director, Bianca Garcia, at [email protected], no later than 12 pm on August 30, 2018.

All other persons interested in applying for the judicial vacancy created by Judge Holeman’s retirement shall review and comply with the application instructions on the Commission’s website, including submitting both an original and a paper copy of their complete application materials to the Commission. Do not email application materials to the Commission or to individual Commission members. All application materials and correspondence shall be addressed to: Judicial Nomination Commission, 515 Fifth Street, NW, Suite 235, Washington, DC  20001. All application materials must be received no later than 12 pm on August 30, 2018. Late, incomplete, or outdated application materials will not be considered. 

The Commission does not require letters of recommendation, letters of support, or endorsements, but it will accept them. Such letters must be received by the Commission no later than 5 pm on October 1, 2018. Consult the application instructions on the Commission‘s website for additional information on the procedures for submitting letters.
