Katherine L. Garrett was named Executive Director of the Judicial Nomination Commission on April 20, 2015. Katia came to the Commission after a long career in public service and public interest law, most recently as the Executive Director of the DC Bar Foundation. A graduate of Vassar College and George Washington University Law School, Ms. Garrett clerked for the Hon. Thomas F. Hogan, US District Court for the District of Columbia, worked as a trial lawyer specializing in civil rights and employment law as Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Chief of Staff in the US Department of Justice Office of Policy Development, and as the first Executive Director of the DC Circuit’s Task Force on Gender, Race and Ethnic Bias. A District of Columbia resident, Katia has taught at area law schools and is active in local bar and community organizations.
