Aisha Braithwaite Flucker, Esq., is the General Counsel for the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services for the District of Columbia (DYRS). She represents the agency in juvenile justice cases and employee relations matters. She also advises DYRS on District and Federal laws and serves as their ethics counselor.
Before joining DYRS, Ms. Flucker served in the Family Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General as Assistant Deputy. There, she managed the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children unit who handled cases before HOPE Court. Previously, she served as Section Chief and Assistant Attorney General where she handled complex child abuse and neglect cases involving child fatalities, traumatic brain injuries, and termination of parental rights. She also volunteered as a Certified Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor with the Office of Human Rights for the District of Columbia, mediating employment discrimination claims.
Ms. Flucker has served as chair of the Office of Attorney General's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Awareness Committee, co-chair of the District's Human Trafficking Task Force, co-chair of the Mayor's Advisory Committee for Child Abuse and Neglect, and actively participates on several other committees that support District residents.
Ms. Flucker earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in the Administration of Justice, magna cum laude, from Howard University. She earned her Juris Doctorate from American University, Washington College of Law. While in law school, she received the Marshall-Brennan Fellowship.
