Alexandre M. Dempsey, Esq., is a Trial Attorney in the Public Integrity Section of the United States Department of Justice, where he investigates allegations of misconduct by federal, state, and local public officials, including bribery, fraud, and election-related offenses. His work includes leading national investigations, trying felony cases in federal courts across the country, and providing training to federal law-enforcement agents.
Before his current role, Mr. Dempsey served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of California, where he prosecuted complex white-collar offenses, including healthcare fraud, money laundering, and tax fraud. He also worked as one of the office’s misdemeanor coordinators, enforcing federal statutes in national parks.
Mr. Dempsey served on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Criminal Justice Act Panel, where he represented indigent defendants. He began his legal career as an associate at Buckley Sandler LLP, where he represented financial institutions in criminal and civil investigations and in complex litigation. He maintained a meaningful pro bono practice, including leading misdemeanor trials and providing appellate representation on felony matters. Throughout his career, Mr. Dempsey has remained committed to public service, the fair administration of justice, and mentoring students and young attorneys.
Mr. Dempsey received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri–Rolla and his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, where he participated in the Criminal Defense & Prisoner Advocacy Clinic.
