Armando O. Bonilla

Armando O. Bonilla, Esq. has served in the U.S. Department of Justice for twenty-three years as a civil litigator, criminal prosecutor, appellate advocate, and Associate Deputy Attorney General. He currently serves as an Associate General Counsel for the U.S. Marshals Service. Mr. Bonilla joined the Department of Justice in 1994 through the Attorney General's Honors Program. Prior to joining the Office of the Deputy Attorney General in 2010, Mr. Bonilla served in the Civil Division's Commercial Litigation Branch and the Criminal Division's Public Integrity Section and Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section. During his tenure with the Department, Mr. Bonilla has litigated over one-hundred civil cases, investigated and prosecuted over fifty criminal cases, and argued over fifty federal appeals. While serving as an Associate Deputy Attorney General, he advised several Attorneys General and Deputy Attorneys General on legal, legislative, and policy issues relating to law enforcement and criminal justice; managed a number of components; coordinated the Department's responses to internal and external investigations and audits; and directed critical reforms. Mr. Bonilla began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. Garrett E. Brown, Jr., in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Mr. Bonilla received his Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia University in 1989, and his juris doctor, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1992, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Constitutional Law Journal. He lives in the District of Columbia with his wife and two children.
