Eli D. Wood

Eli D. Wood is an Assistant Attorney General in the District of Columbia Office of the Attorney General (OAG), where he defends the District's laws and administrative practices in a wide variety of commercial litigation. In this role, Mr. Wood protects the public fisc used to support governmental operations and programs, and ensures District tax laws are defended and enforced for continued fiscal certainty. Mr. Wood has dedicated himself to ensuring that District law is applied correctly, consistently, and equitably, and to providing delinquent taxpayers with information and the opportunity to address administrative concerns with District agencies prior to foreclosure or other serious penalty. In 2013, Mr. Wood played an integral role in the enactment of legislation amending the District's tax sale statute to provide additional protections for District homeowners at risk of foreclosure while maintaining the integrity of the District's tax collection process.

Between 2009 and 2011, Mr. Wood served as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable Stephanie Duncan-Peters, then-Presiding Judge of the Civil Division of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Prior to his clerkship, he prepared appellate immigration briefs for submission to the federal courts of appeal at the United States Department of Justice, Office of Immigration Litigation.

Mr. Wood graduated from Grinnell College in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science. He earned his Juris Doctor from Marquette University in 2006. In 2007, he received a LL.M. from the Program on Law and Government at American University, Washington College of Law, with a concentration in Civil and Constitutional Rights.
