Eric J. Konopka, Esq., is a partner at Latham & Watkins LLP and a member of the firm’s Supreme Court & Appellate Practice. There, he briefs and argues appeals in federal and state appellate courts across the country, with a particular focus on complex, technical legal issues. He also maintains a robust pro bono practice, acting as lead counsel in cases implicating important constitutional and statutory rights. In addition to his appellate practice, he regularly appears in federal and state trial courts and administrative agencies, preparing dispositive motions and advising on appellate strategy.

Before he became a lawyer, Mr. Konopka had a career in finance, advising financial institutions on mergers and acquisitions, executing capital-raising transactions, and analyzing esoteric financial products for investment.

Mr. Konopka earned his Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, where he served as a Managing Editor of the Columbia Law Review. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Carlos T. Bea on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Honorable Leondra R. Kruger on the Supreme Court of California, and the Honorable Raymond M. Kethledge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
