Jamil Zouaoui

Jamil Zouaoui, Esq. is a member of the boutique public service-oriented firm, Mizene PLLC, where, since 2001, he has represented many groups of aggrieved persons in housing and consumer protection public service litigation, as well as commercial litigation usually involving a public interest.

Mr. Zouaoui began his legal career in public service working for The World Bank, developing legal reforms to improve the legal environment and promote business growth benefitting the civil society in several developing countries. He worked on reforms necessary to enable privatization programs, create securities markets and reform commercial and financial sector laws in several countries. He also worked on the establishment of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Laws in Africa, a regional treaty-based organization aiming to improve the business law environment in west-central Africa by providing several uniform codes regulating business activities, including civil procedure, commercial code, companies law, bankruptcy, accounting, and guaranties and sureties. He contributed to the establishment of a regional arbitration center serving OHADA member countries from Cote d'lvoire.

After he left the World Bank in 1996 to enter private practice, Mr. Zouaoui worked in the areas of commercial litigation and project finance, eventually joining Arent Fox Kintner Poltkin & Kahn PLLC as a partner. Because of his growing interest in focusing his practice on public service litigation, he established Mizene PLLC in 2001.

Mr. Zouaoui received his undergraduate degree from the College of Wooster, his Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School, and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree Harvard Law School, where he was an Associate Editor of the Harvard International Law Journal.
