Jeffrey S. Nestler

Jeffrey S. Nestler, Esq., has served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia since 2012. He is currently the chief of the Major Crimes Section within the Superior Court Division, which is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of serious violent crimes and local economic frauds. He previously supervised the units responsible for misdemeanor prosecutions and for firearms offenses. Before he was a supervisor, Mr. Nestler prosecuted homicide cases. His career as a prosecutor has been entirely before the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, and he has conducted more than fifty trials, half of which have been before juries.

Before becoming a prosecutor, Mr. Nestler served as counsel at O'Melveny & Myers LLP, representing both large corporations and individuals in commercial litigation and criminal defense. After earning his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the George Washington University, he earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where served as the executive editor of the law review. He also earned a certificate in business and public policy from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. Following law school, Mr. Nestler clerked for the Honorable Eduardo C. Robreno of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Nestler is an elected member of his local Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC 2D).
