Kelsi Brown Corkran, Esq

Kelsi Brown Corkran, Esq., serves as the Supreme Court Director at the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection (ICAP), a non-profit, public interest litigation firm housed at Georgetown University Law Center, where her practice focuses on defending constitutional rights before the nation’s highest court. She has successfully argued three civil rights cases before the Supreme Court of the United States and dozens of cases in the courts of appeals, including 12 of the 13 U.S. Courts of Appeals.

Before joining ICAP, Ms. Corkran was the Head of the Supreme Court Practice at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Among other positions, she was an attorney with the Civil Appellate Staff at the United States Department of Justice. Before law school, she was a social worker in the Philadelphia foster care system. 

Ms. Corkran is a member of the American Law Institute, the Board of Directors for the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, the Edward Coke Appellate Inn of Court, and the D.C. Circuit Advisory Committee on Procedures. She previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia.  

Ms. Corkran earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her Juris Doctor and Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago. After law school, she clerked for the Honorable David S. Tatel on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
