Nebiyu Feleke

Nebiyu Feleke, Esq. currently serves as a Resident Legal Advisor with the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division, Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT). Before joining OPDAT, Mr. Feleke served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Homicide Section of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. He also served as an Associate Legal Advisor with U.S. Homeland Security’s (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, where he served as agency counsel in various capacities and served as an instructor on legal authorities.

Mr. Feleke was an active-duty Army Judge Advocate (JAG), where he served both as a prosecutor and defense counsel. Mr. Feleke deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, from 2003 through 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served as the lead defense counsel for a forward-deployed combat division with over 20,000 soldiers.

Mr. Feleke received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Master of Arts degree from Georgia Southern University. He received his Juris Doctor from Western New England College School of Law.
