Sharmian L. White

Sharmian L. White, Esq., has over twenty years of experience practicing law in the private and public sectors. She is the founder of the DC law firm Roka IP Solutions. Her practice is focused on trademark clearance, prosecution, licensing, and litigation; copyright registration, infringement, and licensing; and internet domain name disputes. She began intellectual property law practice in 2013, serving as of Counsel with the law firms of McLeod, Watkinson & Miller (2013-2016) and The Curry Law Firm, PLLC (2016-2017), both in the District of Columbia.

From 1997 to 2013, Ms. White specialized in environmental enforcement and natural resource management and restoration at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA's) Office of the General Counsel (OGC), first as an Attorney-Advisor and later as the Assistant General Counsel for USDA OGC's Natural Resources Division, a Senior Executive Service position. Prior to serving at the USDA, Ms. White was an Associate in Beveridge & Diamond, PC's DC office.

Ms. White has a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Harvard University and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas Law School, where she was Lead Articles Editor for the Texas Environmental Law Journal and a member of the Legal Research Board.

Ms. White is committed to providing pro bono legal representation to those in need as often as possible. She has provided such services with respect to Constitutional and civil rights matters, particularly unlawful search and seizure, equal protection, race discrimination, and HIV/AIDS status-based discrimination. She also volunteers with the Superior Court of the District of Columbia’s Family Law Self Help Center, the Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program, and Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts (WALA).
