Shai D. Bronshtein, Esq.

Shai D. Bronshtein, Esq., is a Senior Counsel at Groom Law Group Chartered. His practice focuses on Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) litigation nationwide.

Previously, Mr. Bronshtein was a trial attorney at the International Unit, Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section of the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). In that role, he acted as both a criminal prosecutor and a civil forfeiture litigator. He investigated and prosecuted money laundering linked to corruption and fraud worldwide. He initiated forfeiture actions totaling tens of millions of dollars in criminal proceeds in federal courts across the country. Mr. Bronshtein taught courses to foreign investigators, prosecutors, and judges on topics including money laundering, forfeiture, and international evidence gathering. He also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia in the Superior Court Division.

Before joining the DOJ, Mr. Bronshtein was an associate at a boutique litigation firm in Washington, DC, where he litigated a broad range of commercial disputes at the trial and appellate levels.

Mr. Bronshtein received his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, and Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University. He received his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of Chicago Law School. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Jerry E. Smith on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
