The District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission (“Commission”) has forwarded to the President the names of the three lawyers below for his consideration in selecting a nominee to fill the judicial vacancy on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia created by the retirement of the Honorable Gregory E. Jackson. The President has sixty (60) days to select a nominee to fill this vacancy.

Michael T. Ambrosino, Esq. has served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia since 1989.  He has served in the Office’s Civil Division, Fraud and Public Corruption Section, Homicide Section, and Appellate Division, and is the first person to serve as Special Counsel for DNA and Forensics at the Office, in which capacity he is responsible for overseeing prosecutors’ use of forensic evidence. Mr. Ambrosino began his career in 1985 at the law firm of Donohue and Donohue in New York, practicing international trade law before becoming a trial attorney in 1987 with the International Trade Field Office of the United States Department of Justice in New York. Mr. Ambrosino has lectured on a variety of forensic topics at the George Washington University Forensic Science Studies Graduate Program, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and Georgetown Law. He has also been an invited panelist at numerous forensic conferences and served on the Human Factors Subcommittee of the National Commission on Forensic Science. Mr. Ambrosino received his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from the University of Hartford in 1982, and his Juris Doctor from Hofstra Law School in 1985, where he served on the Law Review.

Hon. Shana Frost Matini was appointed Magistrate Judge by Chief Judge Lee F. Satterfield of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on January 4, 2016.  Previously, Judge Matini served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, where she served as lead counsel in civil cases brought against the District of Columbia in both the local and federal courts, defending the District and its employees in a wide variety of cases involving alleged constitutional violations, as well as common law torts and statutory violations. Prior to her work with the Office of the Attorney General, Judge Matini worked with Judge Richard A. Levie for several years in his capacity as Special Master for the federal RICO lawsuit brought by the United States government against the tobacco industry, and served as Senior Legal Fellow for the Einstein Institute for Science, Health and the Courts. Judge Matini received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs from the George Washington University. Prior to law school, Judge Matini taught English at the Language Teacher's Training College in Slupsk, Poland. She received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 1996 from the District of Columbia School of Law (now the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law).  Upon graduating from law school, Judge Matini clerked for the Honorable Richard A. Levie of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Hon. Adrienne Jennings Noti was sworn in as a Magistrate Judge in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia in 2014.  Prior to her appointment, Judge Noti served as a Special Advisor at the Office of Child Support Enforcement, United States Department of Health and Human Services, where she developed and implemented federal child support policy. Previously, Judge Noti practiced family law for ten years.  She served as a Managing Attorney at the DC Bar Pro Bono Program, coordinating the Advocacy and Justice Clinic.  From 2002 to 2010, Judge Noti was a clinical law professor. As a Practitioner-in-Residence at American University's Washington College of Law, she supervised the representation of low-income clients in family law cases in Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Prior to that, at Rutgers School of Law- Newark, she led a law clinic and pro bono project. Judge Noti was previously a staff attorney with the Safe Horizon Domestic Violence Law Project in New York City.  Judge Noti has taught as an adjunct professor at the New York University School of Social Work, Rutgers University - Newark, and American University's Washington College of Law.  Judge Noti received her Bachelors of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her law degree, magna cum laude, from Georgetown Law. Upon graduating from Georgetown, she clerked for the Honorable Carol Bagley Amon in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
