Tuesday, October 13, 2020

The District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission (“Commission”) is delighted to announce that Tracy Brinkley Nutall, Esq., has been named Executive Director of the Commission. Ms. Nutall joins the Commission after several years of public service. She comes with a diverse range of experience, including court management, project planning, and academic teaching.

Immediately before joining the Commission, Ms. Nutall served as Policy Counsel for the Council for Court Excellence (“CCE”), a non-profit, nonpartisan civic organization committed to improving the District of Columbia’s justice system. Before joining CCE, Ms. Nutall worked for Deloitte, serving as the Executive Assistant to Tamika L. Tremaglio, Greater Washington Managing Principal.

Ms. Nutall’s fourteen year-history with the District of Columbia Courts includes serving as Chief Deputy Clerk of the D.C. Court of Appeals, Executive Assistant to former Chief Judge Eric T. Washington, Law Clerk to former Chief Judge Annice M. Wagner, and Law Clerk to senior judges Leonard Braman, Timothy Murphy, and Peter H. Wolf of the D.C. Superior Court. Early in her legal career, Ms. Nutall taught Business Law courses as an adjunct professor at Bowie State University and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond, Virginia.

“Ms. Nutall’s background with the D.C. Courts makes her particularly well suited to support the work of the Commission,” said U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan and Chair of the Commission.

Ms. Nutall received her Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in business management from Bowie State University and her Juris Doctor degree from the Howard University School of Law.
